Start with your car’s specification, not the brand
Every car is designed around a battery with a particular size, terminal position, capacity and technology. Get any of those wrong and even the most expensive brand will fit badly, charge poorly or fail early. The specification is on the label of the battery fitted now and in the owner’s manual. Our car battery size guide explains the common sizes used in the UAE.
- Case size and terminal layout: the battery must sit in the tray, clamp down securely and connect without stretching cables.
- Cold cranking amps (CCA): at least what the car maker specifies.
- Capacity (Ah): close to the original figure.
- Technology: standard flooded, EFB or AGM, matching what the car was built with.
Standard, EFB or AGM: which copes best with UAE heat
A standard flooded battery is fine for many conventional cars, but heat shortens its life, as it does for every lead-acid battery. EFB is an enhanced flooded design with more cycling ability, used in many basic start-stop cars, while AGM holds the electrolyte in glass mats and is specified for advanced start-stop and premium cars. In a VARTA field test on Dubai taxis running almost around the clock, the conventional batteries failed after about five to six months while the AGM batteries lasted the full 12-month test. That was extreme duty, and it is a manufacturer’s own test, but it shows how heat and heavy cycling punish the wrong technology. Our start-stop battery replacement page covers which cars need which type.
If your car came with an AGM battery, it needs AGM again. Fitting a standard battery to save money can lead to start-stop faults and a much shorter life.
Amaron, Varta, Bosch, ACDelco, Solite and Kays compared
These six are among the most asked-about car battery brands in the UAE. The table compares where each brand comes from, the technologies it offers and the kind of car it often suits. Factory location can differ from the brand’s home country, and ranges vary by market, so always compare the exact product reference on your quote. Each brand page has more detail: Amaron, Varta, Bosch, ACDelco, Solite and Kays.

What CCA and Ah mean for UAE driving
Cold cranking amps (CCA) measure the current a new, fully charged battery can deliver at -18°C for 30 seconds while holding a minimum voltage, according to Battery Council International. The UAE rarely gets that cold, but CCA is still the best single guide to starting power, and a heat-aged battery loses it quickly, so never fit less than the car maker specifies. Ampere-hours (Ah) describe how much energy the battery stores, which matters for cars with many electronics or that sit parked for days. Reserve capacity, where shown, tells you how long the battery can run the car’s essentials if the charging system stops working.
Why the right specification beats a premium name
A cheaper battery that matches your car’s size, CCA and technology will normally outlast a premium battery of the wrong type. A conventional battery in an AGM car may start the engine for a while, but VARTA warns that the wrong technology can cause start-stop faults, failing comfort functions and a shorter battery life. Oversizing is not a fix either, because a battery that does not sit securely in the tray will suffer from vibration. Spend first on the correct type, then choose the brand and warranty that suit your budget.
Other brands available in the UAE
InstaBattery fits 20 brands, so if your car specifies a particular make or you prefer another name, there is usually an option. The battery brands overview compares all of them, and our car batteries page lists the types available.
Price and warranty
Fitted car battery prices with InstaBattery start from AED 180, and the final figure depends on the size, technology and brand your car needs. Warranty is up to 24 months depending on the brand and battery, and the exact term is confirmed on your quote. How to choose in four steps
Choosing well takes a few minutes if you work through the details in order. Once you know what your car needs, 24/7 car battery replacement in Dubai can bring the right battery to you, test the old one first, fit the new one at the car and take the old battery away.
- Read the label on your current battery or check the owner’s manual for size, CCA, Ah and type.
- Confirm whether your car has start-stop, which usually means EFB or AGM.
- Compare two or three brands that offer that exact specification, looking at warranty as well as price.
- Book a mobile battery replacement so the battery is tested and fitted where the car is parked.
